Want to hear something funny? Check out this song I wrote in 2020:

Terrible, right? Five years into my writing journey and this was the best song I had to show for it.

Still, it was the first song I was actually proud of! It was this song that started my obsession with the art of songwriting.

After that song I ended up writing four more songs, including a very dramatic intro track, which I put on my first ‘EP’ (thank God I never released it!).

A year later I was yet again sitting on a pile of demos and riffs. Sound familiar? Granted, they were much more polished demos and riffs than two years prior, but I hadn’t written a complete song in a long time.

However, in March a songwriting competition caught my attention and my dad and I spent the next two months writing a song which I would put on SoundCloud, and submit for the competition.

By the start of May, we had something that sounded like this:

Now we didn’t win the competition, but I had learned so much in the process that winning didn’t seem all that important anyway.

In mid 2022, I started my YouTube channel and by the end of the year I had formed my first band, Chocolate Braisins.

Fast forward to now, and I think it’s fair to say I’ve come a long way:

I don’t share my story to show off – 5 years is a really long time!

If you find yourself on a similar path, I want to help you save years on your own journey.

“Despite the challenges of scheduling a one-on-one session due to time zone differences, ArranBans still made the effort to help me. His critiques were insightful, professional, and really valuable in improving the song. Even when I feel like the song is already okay, he still finds things to refine, pushing me to make it even better. I really appreciate his dedication and expertise.”

“He helped me a lot in learning music production. Thanks to the course I took, I gained more knowledge about the use of virtual instruments, which I was not very good at before. Arran is a very good teacher. If you want to learn something about guitar or music production, this course is for you.”

Frequently Asked Questions

What does coaching actually look like?

I always start with a brief, 15 minute call (free of charge) in which we discuss what you’re currently struggling with. I’ll ask if you have any examples you can show me of tracks you’ve written or produced so I can see where you’re at.

The following calls will be a combination of talking through techniques, sharing my approach, and also some exercises for you to do – these may be on or off the call.

Between sessions you can feel free to send me examples of stuff you’re working on and I’ll offer my feedback. We may continue to work on this during the next lesson. You’ll be able to contact me 24/7.

How often will I be in contact?

As often as you like! My recommendation would be once every week or two but if you need time to work on projects before you’d like another call, I’m more than happy with that.

How much will coaching cost?

Right now I’m offering free calls, only for a limited time.

How long are calls?

Calls can range from 30 minutes to an hour, depending on how much we have to work on that day.
